This Sunday, Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo will take on five other top Washington mixologists in a cocktail combat. Contestants will have 20 minutes to concoct a drink using Jefferson’s signature bourbon.
Battlegrounds are in the Jefferson Hotel Quill Lounge. Tickets to the event are $50 and include passed cocktails and snacks beginning at 2:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, the battle begins, guests will sample the goods, and only one mixologist will reign supreme. Good luck, Jon!
This Saturday, more than 30 neighborhood restaurants will serve sweet and savory treats at the 17th annual Taste of Georgetown. Visit Chef Nappo at the Farmer & Fishers booth to enjoy two Heritage Truck-Style Tacos for $5. Choose from Chicken, Apples and Goat Cheese or Long Roasted Pork served in corn tortillas. The perfect comfort food for a crisp Fall afternoon.
After you’ve satisfied your appetite, stop by the wine and spirits tent to quench your thirst. Chief Mixologist, Jon Arroyo, will serve a White Wine Sangria Spritzer with St. Germain Elderflower liqueur.
The event runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Wisconsin Ave & M St NW. Live jazz will fill the Autumn air as attendees sample unique Georgetown fare.
Today, Washington Post Express ran a two-page spread on the resurgence of rum cocktails. The article featured insight and quotes from some of DC’s most well-known mixologists, including Farmers & Fishers’ own, Jon Arroyo.
According to Jon, “Contrary to popular belief, tiki cocktails are not about the paper umbrellas and funky glassware.”
Check out the full article and photos of Jon in action at the Farmers & Fishers bar. His Painkiller tiki cocktail recipe is also available online.
