Alembic Cocktail Catering Hosts Event Planner Open House

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

On June 22, Alembic Cocktail Catering, the brain-child of renowned Farmers & Fishers Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo, hosted an open house in the Sunflower Room. Event planning professionals and DC concierges gathered for a late afternoon of hor d’oeuvres, refreshing cocktails and networking.

Arroyo’s expert mixologists led step-by-step demonstrations and shook up a number of signature drinks including a particularly intriguing concoction (featuring a surprise ingredient, egg whites) dubbed Taste of the World.

Alembic’s fresh fruit daiquiri was another hit made with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and Peruvian rum.

Jon also showcased a new cocktail named Mad Men & Women, which was invented exclusively for clients at a DC-based law firm and inspired by the stylish and retro television drama, Mad Men.

In addition to sampling unique cocktails, a special tasting menu was created by the chefs at Farmers & Fishers, including Ahi Tuna Rollups, Chocolate-covered Bacon Lollipops, Miniburgers and Fresh Mozzarella Bruschetta skewers.

Jon Arroyo and Farmers & Fishers at Chef’s Best

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

More than 50 DC celebrity chefs and mixologists turned out to serve their signature dishes for Chef’s Best on June 14. This annual fundraiser marked the 20th anniversary of Food & Friends, a charitable organization that provides food and nutrition counseling to people with life-challenging illnesses.

Jon Arroyo, Chief Mixologist for Farmers & Fishers and Alembic Cocktail Catering, mixed up a refreshing summer cocktail. The Alembic Summer Punch Royale is a delicious combination of Pisco, Cointreau, pineapple juice, lime, lemon and a little sparkling wine.

Executive Chef Al Nappo, from sister restaurant Founding Farmers, and his team served Farmers & Fishers favorites  gazpacho with tortilla strips and chocolate-covered bacon lollipops. From Founding Farmers, Chef Nappo prepared house-made blue crab ravioli in tomato basil butter with goat cheese.

The chefs, food, cocktails and the auction surely made this a night to remember.

City Girls World Dishes on Farmers & Fishers

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Farmers & Fishers is tickled pink by rave reviews from DC’s premier online survival guide for the modern, cosmo woman. City Girls World is an all encompassing blog run by two friends, Jess and Christie, that gives the real dirt on anything and everything the District has to offer. The ladies indulged into our chocolate-dipped bacon lollis AND the chocolate-dipped donuts while enjoying the scenic view from our fountain-side patio. We were especially pleased to hear that they “are delighted good food has finally FINALLY come to the waterfront”. We’d have to agree- they’ve left us blushing!

The District Dish Stops By Farmers + Fishers

Monday, May 31st, 2010

We were thrilled to host the special Memorial Day Weekend segment of The District Dish last week hosted by the one and only K Street Kate! Kate and her co-hosts raved over our enormous Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Burger as well as the infamously decadent Chocolate Bacon Lollipops. The Dish featured special guest Tim Holbert of the American Veterans Center, which organizes DC’s National Memorial Day Parade. We think Farmers & Fishers was the perfect location for the District Dish to recognize those who have sacrificed their lives for our country by enjoying the delicious foods harvested fresh from the fields of hardworking American farmers.

Hope you have a very Happy Memorial Day!

DC Venue Spotlight: Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 by Leigh Murdock
I recently assisted with hosting a “dine around” and was fortunate to be a part of the group dining at Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC. Newly opened in October 2009, its location alone is unparalleled. Farmers & Fishers sits just steps from the Potomac River in a vibrant cluster of bars and restaurants. The menu spans the outdoor wall and entices passerby’s with it’s organic and homegrown mix of tasty ingredients and unique cocktails.
The food here is its best asset. From goat cheese ravioli to fish tacos to beet salad and pizza, there is something on the abundant menu for everyone. The restaurant is owned by the North Dakota Farmers Union and Founding Farmers, and is dedicated to the use and promotion of sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, the high ceilings, spacious square footage and variety of seating options make for an ideal setting on the waterfront.  The food is matched in excellence by the three special event rooms.
We’re grateful for the mention, CVent….read on to see what else they have to say about our offerings…and then book your next event at Farmers & Fishers! (more…)
