We were thrilled to host the special Memorial Day Weekend segment of The District Dish last week hosted by the one and only K Street Kate! Kate and her co-hosts raved over our enormous Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Burger as well as the infamously decadent Chocolate Bacon Lollipops. The Dish featured special guest Tim Holbert of the American Veterans Center, which organizes DC’s National Memorial Day Parade. We think Farmers & Fishers was the perfect location for the District Dish to recognize those who have sacrificed their lives for our country by enjoying the delicious foods harvested fresh from the fields of hardworking American farmers.
Hope you have a very Happy Memorial Day!

DC Venue Spotlight: Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 by Leigh Murdock
I recently assisted with hosting a “dine around” and was fortunate to be a part of the group dining at Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC. Newly opened in October 2009, its location alone is unparalleled. Farmers & Fishers sits just steps from the Potomac River in a vibrant cluster of bars and restaurants. The menu spans the outdoor wall and entices passerby’s with it’s organic and homegrown mix of tasty ingredients and unique cocktails.
The food here is its best asset. From goat cheese ravioli to fish tacos to beet salad and pizza, there is something on the abundant menu for everyone. The restaurant is owned by the North Dakota Farmers Union and
Founding Farmers, and is dedicated to the use and promotion of sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, the high ceilings, spacious square footage and variety of seating options make for an ideal setting on the waterfront. The food is matched in excellence by the
three special event rooms.
We’re grateful for the mention, CVent….read on to see what else they have to say about our offerings…and then book your next event at Farmers & Fishers!

On behalf of Farmers & Fishers, Founding Farmers and the Vucurevich Simons Advisory Group, we congratulate the team at the Washington Post Food Section for their impressive win at the James Beard Awards this past weekend:
“The section, which appears Wednesdays, is edited by Joe Yonan. The award, for work published last year, was announced Sunday night at a dinner in New York.
The section’s deputy editor is Bonnie Benwick, Jane Black is its staff writer, and Leigh Lambert is the editorial assistant.”
Referred to as the “Oscars of the Food World” by Time Magazine, The James Beard Foundation Awards honor chefs; food and beverage professionals; print, online & broadcast journalists that focus on food; and restaurant designers for their talents and achievements in the food world. During this tough time for journalism—especially in print media—this award is an exceptional achievement that honors their commitment to putting out an exceptional food section each week.
It is certainly due in part to the Post’s continued delicious coverage that Washington is now considered one of the country’s top culinary scenes and for that we say cheers and thank you to the editors and journalists for their hard work!
