On behalf of Farmers & Fishers, Founding Farmers and the Vucurevich Simons Advisory Group, we congratulate the team at the Washington Post Food Section for their impressive win at the James Beard Awards this past weekend:
Referred to as the “Oscars of the Food World” by Time Magazine, The James Beard Foundation Awards honor chefs; food and beverage professionals; print, online & broadcast journalists that focus on food; and restaurant designers for their talents and achievements in the food world. During this tough time for journalism—especially in print media—this award is an exceptional achievement that honors their commitment to putting out an exceptional food section each week.
It is certainly due in part to the Post‘s continued delicious coverage that Washington is now considered one of the country’s top culinary scenes and for that we say cheers and thank you to the editors and journalists for their hard work!

Join Farmers & Fishers’ Chief Mixologist Jon Arroyo as he shakes and pours his Artini cocktail, “Case in Point,” for the first time at the Artini feature TONIGHT. Jon is competing with 11 other top mixologists for the most artistic cocktail inspired by a piece from the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s William A. Clark Collection, and he’s certainly made a case for his masterful mixology skills with this one!
Jon’s muse of the imbibed is Forain’s courtroom drama (above), where proof exonerates the innocent or condemns the guilty. He presents his own proof using the French, high-proof Remy Martin VSOP with a mix of raspberries, limes, orange bitters and ginger syrup topped with a Pernod absinthe foam….a complex yet carefully framed concoction that may have you telling the truth after just one—after all, there is no liquor with a higher proof than absinthe! Jon’s cocktail will be judged by a jury of his peers – you! Register your vote for “Case in Point” to find the judgment on this case. Then join the 1869 Society and the Artini Host Committee at the Artini benefit on Saturday, March 27th to help raise funds for the Corcoran’s Art Reach programs because all parties deserve to face their accusers. À la vôtre! |
