DC Venue Spotlight: Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront
Tuesday, May 11, 2010 by Leigh Murdock
I recently assisted with hosting a “dine around” and was fortunate to be a part of the group dining at Farmers & Fishers at the Georgetown Waterfront in Washington, DC. Newly opened in October 2009, its location alone is unparalleled. Farmers & Fishers sits just steps from the Potomac River in a vibrant cluster of bars and restaurants. The menu spans the outdoor wall and entices passerby’s with it’s organic and homegrown mix of tasty ingredients and unique cocktails.
The food here is its best asset. From goat cheese ravioli to fish tacos to beet salad and pizza, there is something on the abundant menu for everyone. The restaurant is owned by the North Dakota Farmers Union and
Founding Farmers, and is dedicated to the use and promotion of sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, the high ceilings, spacious square footage and variety of seating options make for an ideal setting on the waterfront. The food is matched in excellence by the
three special event rooms.
We’re grateful for the mention, CVent….read on to see what else they have to say about our offerings…and then book your next event at Farmers & Fishers!
The Gallery Area of the restaurant, the Main restaurant and the entire restaurant are also available for reserve, fitting up to 300 people, but the three private dining rooms are what make this restaurant truly special:
The Wine Room
This room is an incredible space for a small meeting, family dinner, or a bridal shower. Although it’s not quite as conducive to a very private and uninterrupted discussion as is the Harvest Room (there is a large window in the room looking out over the waterfront terrace and fountain), it’s circular table and walls lined with wine bottles offers a unique experience. The room holds up to 14 people for a seated lunch or dinner, and also includes a flat screen monitor for presentations or meetings.
The Harvest Room
Tucked away in the back of the restaurant, the ambiance of this room is lovely and very private. Cozy, warm and intimate, this DC banquet space is perfect for a group of less than 30 people. It’s also available for standing receptions, accommodating around 45 people. The fireplace adds a welcoming touch.
The Sunflower Room and Fireplace Lounge
This elegant and private space fits a larger crowd: 70 seated and 120 reception-style. Complete with two flat-screen televisions, a fireplace, and high-speed Internet, the space can accommodate several different types of group arrangements for meetings, receptions, presentations, parties and more.
